About Us

The inspiration behind Stillness Moves came years ago when Arash and Mige were practicing and teaching as master trainers a system of fitness that applied many techniques from chi kung, tai chi, kundalini yoga, hatha yoga, dance and gymnastics.

They observed people who sought to improve their physical health often found themselves in limiting compensations or other forms of dysfunction. They did not perceive their physical health as an integrated part of their life experience, so it translated also to what they practiced. People often relied on sequences and logic that they could not understand nor could they practice in creative ways, they became passive consumers of what they were told, no matter what they experienced.

Body mind spirit practices often ended up being a primarily physical practice employing the intellect to achieve efficiency, speed or extremes as if acrobats and gymnasts were the epitome of fulfillment/enlightenment.

On the other extreme a focus on contemplative approach and dispassion disconnected people from the life force in their body’s and trapped their consciousness firmly in the thinking mind.

Many who had experienced subtle realms or continuously were experiencing those realms forgot the task at hand: Purifying and removing the obstacles that prevented the exulted qualities of those realms manifest through their presence, actions and eventually merging with the essence of awareness itself.

Arash and Mige had themselves experienced what they observed in others and also the many transitions and stages. They discovered untapped potential for wholeness and integration that is available at every stage, with Stillness Moves they guide others to discover the same potential. Arash and Mige founded Stillness Moves School of Embodiment:

“To distill transformational tools to their essence, simplicity and true power.  Create a fertile practice ground for individuals to apply these tools and understand them and through this process awaken to their own wisdom and progressively experience life force/being in its most unconditioned form.”

Arash Dastranj-Sedghi studied computer science following his curiosity in Artificial Intelligence. Having sensed life’s vast intelligence early on, his focus changed, he moved to New York City and became a full-time dance student. Arash got introduced to yoga and his life from then on was dedicated to the study of consciousness. As part of this search he also practiced many movement methods. He became a bodyworker of subtle touch therapies and a movement teacher. Arash’s life-long search in the field of consciousness brings fresh new perspectives to whatever you practice and his ability to guide, transforms them to direct experience.

Mige A. Germann after graduating from the Theater School in Amsterdam, danced professionally in Europe. She calls her injuries during that time the most truthful guides, they led her to practice yoga, Alexander technique, Feldenkrais and other movement systems. As a client of various bodywork modalities she experienced a new world of internal subtle movements. Studies in shiatsu, craniosacral therapy and other modalities followed. She became a bodyworker and a movement teacher. Her expression of ease, freedom and liquidity in movement, with her sensitivity makes her classes a joyful and insightful experience.
